Product Setup - Salesforce CPQ

Hi All,

In the era of digitalisation, Purchasing an item online has been our habit now.

Have you ever imagined how these products being setup in the tool?

Today we are going to learn about how quickly & easily we can setup a Product Or Bundle in Salesforce CPQ.

Use Case:

We want to setup Laptop product as a bundle/package which can have 1 or more options such as Mouse, Key Board, Light Pen etc..

To model the above mentioned product setup, please follow the below mentioned steps.

Product Setup

  • Create Product: Laptop

Please set following field values on Laptop product:

  1. Configuration Type = Required or Allowed
  2. Configuration Event = Always
  3. Option Layout = Tabs

We will discuss about the significance of the above fields in another article.

  • Create Products: Mouse, Key Board & Light Pen

Pricing Setup

After product setup, the main thing is to define the pricing for the individuals.

let's provide some price to all products which we created.

  • Go to 'Related' Tab for individual products and click 'Add Standard Price' button. It will open a popup where we can add price. Enter price & click 'Save' button.

Repeat the above steps to provide pricing for other products like Mouse, Key Board and Light Pen.

Now consider the following things:

  1. Mouse & Key Boards are the Core Part those needs to be added with Laptop.
  2. Light Pen is an Add-On to the Laptop.

Let's see how above things can be setup using Salesforce CPQ.

Feature Setup:

Open Laptop Product, Go to Related tab & Click 'New' button in 'Feature' related list.

  • Create a feature called 'Core'.

  • Repeat the above steps to create another feature called 'Add-On'.

Option Setup:

Open Laptop Product, Go to Related tab & Click 'New' button in 'Option' related list.

  • Create product option for Mouse & Key Board added with Core feature.

  • Create product option for Light Pen added with Add-On feature.

Notes:

  1. Number field in above screenshots manages the order in which product will be visible on product configuration page.
  2. Selected field will be used to make a product selected by default when the configuration loads.

Your basic Bundle configuration is done.

Configuration Test

Please follow below mentioned steps to check the configuration that we did.

  • Create an Account.

  • Create an Opportunity with above account.

  • Create a quote for ABC Corporation from the above opportunity & click 'Edit Lines' button.

  • Click 'Add Product' button & select 'Laptop' from Product Selection screen & click 'Select' button.

  • On Laptop Configuration page, we will be able to see following things:
  1. Mouse & Key Boards are available in 'Core' tab and are default selected.
  2. Light Pen is available in 'Add-on' tab and it not defaulted.

Note: Default quantity for all option products is 1 which can be set from product record or from Option record.

  • Select Light Pen & Click 'Save' button which will take us on cart.

  • On Cart page, we will be able to see the product pricing.
